It started with an e-mail. Then a phone call. Then a meeting.

Then history was made!

From the San Fernando Valley comes ARC and Rich Goldberg.

From the Orange County-San Diego area comes NJB and Dennis Murphy.

From the Central Coast area comes CENTRAL COAST SWOOSH and Mike Alexander.

From the San Gabriel Valley comes SGV and Lyle Honda.

From the South Bay area comes the SPKnights and Bob Uchida.

From the five comes the one:

THE WESTERN STATES BASKETBALL ALLIANCE.

The WSBA has come to California to promote a more structured and a more organized youth basketball environment for all youth basketball players, boys and girls.

It strives to promote confidence amongst the traveling basketball clubs in California by sanctioning a series of tournaments by its members which will guarantee a uniformity of quality that all will appreciate.

Each WSBA sanctioned tournament will feature a Division 1 and a Division 2 level for the quality of competition that a club may freely choose.

By the sheer size of it's membership, the WSBA can guarantee that a club will find a complete diversity of opponents in each of it's tournaments. A club can ensure that it doesn't face the same clubs over and over, at tournament after tournament again.

By the sheer size of it's membership, the WSBA can guarantee that your club will not be faced with only a 3 team pool again or a one game run to the championship.

All WSBA sanctioned tournaments will be as close to a high school experience as possible. Play more minutes per your dollar entry in the WSBA than any where else.

Here are some features of a WSBA sanctioned tournament game:

8 minute stop time quarters.
3 full timeouts to be used at any time.
2 CIF officials with CIF supervision
Complete certification of teams
All games governed completely by CIF Southern Section rules
Special events as 3 point contests and free throw contests

Also included in the amenities will be:

a Coaches Hospitality Room for all participating coaches to interact with coaches from other teams and other divisions.
An opportunity for all players to be profiled on the WSBA website as a BEST IN THE WEST player.
An opportunity for a club to be ranked in the WSBA TEAM RANKINGS on the website and to be recognized as one of the better teams in California by it's efforts and performances.
For the first four finishers of each division, a reduced entry fee to participate in the next WSBA tournament that they should choose to enter.

Points will be earned for each team entry into a WSBA sanctioned tournament which will be used to qualify for the WSBA Invitational National Championships.

Points will be earned for each team entry into a WSBA sanctioned tournament which will be used to qualify for the WSBA Invitational World Championships to be held on Labor Day Weekend, 2007, and will feature teams from countries around the world.

Only teams with points from WSBA tournaments will be allowed to compete in the National and World Invitationals.

The WSBA also offers the opportunity for smaller clubs to purchase club directors, coaches, and players 24 hour basketball coverage that is so necessary these days.

The coverages and the price will be at a much more reduced rate than this type of insurance sells elsewhere.

The WESTERN STATES BASKETBALL ALLIANCE was born to serve the large numbers of players now participating in the youth basketball arena of today.

By coming together, the Board of Directors have brought the largest and most influential basketball clubs in Southern and Northern California to ensure the agreements that are on this page are honored statewide, tournament by tournament.

When a club enters a WSBA sanctioned tournament, it can be assured that it is money well spent in terms of economy and competition.
